Amagnitude 4.2 seismic event struck in the early hours of Wednesday on the shores in Malibu and shook large areas of Southern California coast and inland regions as a lot of people were asleep.
The earthquake was recorded around 2 a.m. The earthquake was reported at 2 a.m.
according to the reports of the U.S. Geological Survey. A magnitude-3.5 aftershock occurred following the initial earthquake around 2:03 a.m.
Followingshocks that were of magnitude-2.8 or 2.6 were recorded in the 2nd quarter of 2.22 a.m. at 2:38 a.m. and 2:38 a.m., respectively
It was located off-shore, around 10 miles to the south from Malibu as well as 15 miles to the southwest from Santa Monica
15.4 miles west of Venice and 16.3 miles to the west from El Segundo.
Shaking was observed within Malibu, Santa Monica, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and other coastal communities,
including parts of Los Angeles' South Bay and San Fernando Valley, widespread areas in LA as well as other regions that are part of Southern California.
There was no first report of injuries or damage as per the Los Angeles Fire Department.
