LeBron James became just one of two athletes to ever in NBA history to rack up more than 38,000 points in his career
on the same day, as the player gets toward Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record for all-time points , James who was playing for his twenty-first NBA season, required 11 points to get to 38,000 points.
He also made a mid-range shot in early quarters of Los Angeles Lakers' home game against the Philadelphia 76ers to move past the mark of 38,000 points
James ended up scoring 35 points, but the game was bittersweet evening in which the Lakers were defeated 113-112.
The 38-year-old forward who began playing for Cleveland Cavaliers Cleveland Cavaliers and also played for the Miami Heat, has averaged 29 points per game during the season.
A four-time champion and four-time MVP James will surpass the former Lakers center Abdul-Jabbar's record of 34 years old of 38,387 points over the next few weeks
As James turned 38 in October, Abdul-Jabbar had wished him happy birthday with the following message: "38 is the new 38,388."
James is currently 363 points in the lead over Abdul-Jabbar and, based the average of his score,
NBA statisticians expect him to break the record prior to the All-Star break in the month of March
